The focus looks really really cool. WRX looks great and is tried and true and you may be able to get one more easily than the new focus (I would not be surprised if dealers try to tack onto the RS). The Golf R is also a great looking car but VW's seem to just cost more to maintain and purchase in general.
This was also a concern for me. I've heard nightmares from Evo owners about Mitsu and imagine the issue would only be compounded by this being the final year.

If you have any bolts ons on the evo they won't cover it anyway. Other then that the car has been pretty solid even at close to 500whp. Transmission issue were with the older evo and now everything is strong.

Funny I can't stand the boxer rumble and greatly prefer the sound of an Evo or any I-4 really.

I could never own a WRX/STI for this reason alone. They sound like an engine that's missing and something's wrong (I know this can be "fixed" with equal length headers). I think they sound like straight s**t.

Evos are more stout. I guess WRXs are plentiful and cheap though.
I have an equal length header on mine, it is a far cry from "fixed" in terms of the sound. It improves the sound a little, at least!

I had the dealer replace my stock transmission at 10k miles due to a failure. It was smooth process with no issues. I thought you meant like bringing your EVO to the dealer for services which I would never do.

That's disappointing, I thought it sounds like an I4 after an equal length, or so I was told.

Yeah I am just saying it would be a concern since the brand seems to be circling the drain. Drive all of them and whichever you like best buy that. I have a feeling it won't be the Evo due to the dated feel of the car others have mentioned.

I think the problem with wrx / STI is they appear to be children's cars. I couldn't see myself owning one was an adult. To boy wonder race car driver.

My dad has a WRX and its nothing like a child's car. Just because you act like a grumpy old man doesn't mean everyone who buys a car you dont like is a child.

They appear like a Childs car. The new WRX is a decent motor, it's still just an economy car with a poor AWD system and subi build quality.

Glad your dad likes it...
