Default aerodynamic speed hump

sup guys
i have a question about the aerodynamic speed hump on motorcycle jackets/suits. my question is how does it work? a car spoiler is like an upside down airplane wing, but how about the speed hump. i know it sounds stupid, but i've tried searching it on the web, couldn't find any information.
please help, thx

Yes, they actually do work. How many mph will you gain at top? Maybe 1...

Unless you're a professional racer, I wouldn't make any leather-buying decision based entirely on the "hump".

When tucked in they help make a smoother transition between the lid and your back, helping airflow and therefore reducing drag.

I like when they hook up exhaust fans to the humps.

I have three jackets with the hump and a suit. while yes you will gain top end MPH that is not the true purpose of the hump. It makes the rider and bike much more stable at speed. the idea is instead of the air heading straight down off the rider into the seat area which can creat drag and turbulence on the ride with the hump the air flows straight back off the bike. It really does make a difference at high speeds

the other reason for the hump is to reduce the stain on the riders neck. It helps prevent fatigue.

I rock one on my one piece motogp kangaroo skin.

that hump is mainly to save ur lid when sliding on ur back in a fall. i really don't think they have any functionality for speed or aerodynamics.

the hump really has no safety protection to it. the true reason they are there are for aerodynamics. looks at any site that has them added on a jacket/suit. not sure who told you other wise but they were wrong.

Well...It is extra leather and some cushioning over your upper back, thus it provides an extra layer of protection for your spine, in addition to the aerodynamic benefits. Plus (a very important point) if well executed, looks damn cool .
