After 6 model years, is s2k still worth buying?

The only things close to an S are probably the New Miata and the Porsche Boxster - either way, there is a wide $$$ range that is if filled by only the S2000.
I bought an 04 S last year, after 5 yrs of production and no sig changes. I consider the S pretty much the best there is until you step up to a 60k$ Porsche.

[QUOTE=rai,May 7 2005, 09:16 AM] Another thing, just b/c a car has been around, doesn't mean it can't still be the class leader.
Case in point, the M3 has been around near the same time as the S2000 with the new 3-series out already it's a previous gen product. Yet point a gun at my head and tell me I have to buy a $50K car today and M3 + comp package has to be at or near the top of my short list.
One thing I wish Honda would do is spice the S up a bit.

What other cars are you cross-shopping?

I know what you're already thinking. E46 M3 or S2000?!?! That's a no brainer!! BMW all the way!
But the fact is that at this point in my life I'm still relatively young, have no need for a backseat, and would probably prefer a light, tossable, more surreal experience of a car than a heavily bloated GT sports car that probably won't offer the same driving experience (ironic that BMW says they're the Ultimate Driving Experience ). All these reasons lead me to the s2000.
Although the Sti and EVO are great cars, I don't think they're for me. I'd rather have a g35c than a 350z, the rx-8 has been a disappointment, and I'm not interested in heavy, American v8s like the GTO, mustang GT, Charger, etc. (I hope this doesn't spark a new topic in this thread )

I test drived the Z4 , SLK , S2k and TT roadster , none of em had the fun factor s2k had and i saved money on top of that. Been riding it everyday for a month now and it gets better everyday and now that i hit the 1k mark the real fun begins

The g35c, however, doesn't appeal to me as much anymore because I think it has become the car for the mid-life crisis mom, at least in the area I live in.

What I'm actually thinking is that the S2000 is very different from those other cars you mentioned and that you should try narrowing down what type of car you want before progressing any further.
Okay, what I'm actually thinking is that I boobs (as the statistics would have you believe)...but that really doesn't help you with your decision

Get the S2K if what you are worried about is that it will go out of production. Who cares if its the last one made, you bought the car to drive not to talk about.
I also was making the 30k dollar range desicion, and yes, I also liked the S2K the most.

You shouldn't care what other people think of the car you're driving...

Ha ha. Of all people, why would a bunch of S2000-drivers think that?

I'd like to drive my car in confidence, without having to worry much about the likes of WRXs, 350zs, g35cs, LS1/LS2, EVO/STis, etc. challenging me. Hell, even older, lightweight civic hatchback with a b18c5 or h22 would scare me if I were in an s2000.
Now you're probably going to argue that the s2000 is not a drag car since it clearly shines on the twisties, but realistically, how often do you race on the track? I'm not advocating street racing, but you and I both agree that there's going to be that occasional challenge on the street that you just won't refuse. Needless to say, I'm going to feel damn more confident in the M3 than in the s2k.
