The all motor nsx that ran Tskuba in 56 seconds
#12
Consider this: the NSX has been out since 1990 and it's taken this long to get it to go this fast around that track in normally aspirated form. I expect some of that is because most tuners have moved on to newer, faster cars. The other part is that it's very difficult to get a balanced car (aero, power, grip, agility) that just "works". Lots of time and money required...

Sick find! Respect to the team that made tuned this car. I wonder how much time and money was invested into this beast. Also like the respect they give to Ayrton Senna on the hood.

Impressive machine making impressive wheel horsepower.
I love seeing high horsepower naturally aspirated machines.
The ENDYN engine program thread is also a good thread to read if you're into that high dollar high performance stuff.

The reason that you don't see a lot of really fast NSXs is the same reason that you don't see a lot of really fast (insert rare car here). First of all, 56 seconds around Tsukuba is not fast, it's punch-your-grandma-in-the-cooter fast.
But you make it sound like the NSX is inherently lacking in some way. It has all of the right elements to be fast but the cost of entry is so high to begin with that few people have them, fewer people race them competitively, and even fewer people in that small subsection have half a clue about how to modify a car.
I would argue that anyone with a strong understanding of vehicle dynamics (read: NOT most Japanese tuners... seriously, most of them are a joke) can do well with an NSX. The notion that it is so expensive to modify an NSX goes out the window when you're not buying blingy, pseudo-effective parts. That is to say, no more expensive than fabricating parts for any other car.
