Don't forget that the Evo 1 - 9 platform and engine has been around for ages so they have more time to develop better parts for the car compared to the X which came out last year. Also the JDM IX over there also had AYC (active yaw control).

Well, that's true about the JDM Evo IX having AYC...that's why it was doing ballet in the video

But all the changes that they've made to the engine (4G63) were all subtle refinements unlike this one in the Evo X where everything seems like a whole new concept. And I should know because I have one

oh yeah? what track? maybe in some best motoring video.

it's been tested heads up with the IX in the states now by at least 3 mags and has been behind in all of them.

Evo IX wins:

Evo IX wins: (1 1/2 seconds)

X vs IX on a mustang dyno: (IX is dotted line, both cars 100% stock run same day)

i was wrong about road and track, they are the only one i could find having the X faster on a track. If you can find that article he comes to the conclusion it's faster before driving them...the proceeds to be faster in the X. Make of that what you will.

The point is the IX is lighter and by all accounts has better steering feel and is as fast if not faster on a track and cheaper. it also has a lot more potential at this time and in the foreseeable future.

still editing...see above...

edit:
In the end I don't care what anyone buys. It was just a suggestion as the IXs are coming down. The problem is getting an unmolested one as most evo drivers are not real smart. I've only had my IX for a 1 1/2 years and it's a pretty good car. It's probably not as refined as the X, but it's as fast or faster in all aspects. And the engine is so well known. An exhaust and flash is around $700 here and that gives you what, 30, 40 whp?

The chassis in the X is better, but for the large amount of money you can save getting a slightly used IX you can make it faster in every way for little to know money if you believe it's slower then a X. My own experience and other people's experience say the IX is already faster stock vs stock.

Actually, AYC has been around since the IV and S-AYC was brought in the JDM VIII, I believe.

why does everybody care if the new evo x is a tad slower around the track than the ix? it really should only matter to you if you're buying an evo for track purposes. because if it's your daily driver, what's the purpose? you're just going to be going 20mph in traffic like the guy next to you. unless you just like telling people how much horsepower you have and how fast your car can run around the track.
