Funny joke there. Its not up to them in their mandate. If you can buy a gun at walmart, auto manufacturers sure as hell better be able to sell us cars with many horsepowers. I love this age of horsepower. Keep it up!

I don't think you can use the 80s as a baseline. 500hp is a massive amount of power for passenger cars. I think we have hit the cap in usable horsepower for most cars. Now engines will get smaller but output will remain the same until engines are no more.

Tend to agree. Until rubber compounds improve, I cannot keep the back end down WTO.
