Am I crazy?
Thinking about trading in my 04 S2000 for a 2013 hyundai genesis coupe? Getting mixed opinions about this. I really want to but I know I would miss my s2000. I just know that the gen coupe is way faster plus turbo! Had my S now since Jan of this year. Gen coupe is slightly redesigned for 13 and also instead of 210hp it has 274hp for the 13 plus also more torque. Plus what gets to me is that in 2 yrs my S will be 10 yrs old and prob have over 100k on it and would still have 2 yrs of payments to make as well. Need help!!!
That thing is a boat in comparison. Much heavier, and much less fun I'm sure. Plus its a Hyundai, heard those Genesi have trans problems. I like the way they look from the back but not the front. I say keep the S
Never driven the Genesis. I'm sure it's a great car and maximum torque at 2000 rpm would be a lot of fun. What I find with Hyundai is their prices are very competitive but they miss out on refinement in a number of areas. Their manual shifters are known not to be the smoothest and I'm not sure about the coupe but I know handling in some of their other vehicles is a bit vague. I think Hyundai has come a long way in a short time, styling, quality, and interesting cars have become their stronger points but I think they still have a ways to go to make a "drivers" car.

I think you're crazy, but it depends on what you want from a car. For me the power increase isn't a huge deal because no matter what you drive there will always be someone faster.
Pros for Genesis:
-Brand new
-More powerful
-More aggressive front styling
-Warranty
Pros for S2000:
-Convertible
-Styling is more timeless
-Probably more fun to drive, despite having less power
-More unique
-Gearbox will still be better
^My argument to this would be: in 2 years the Genesis will be lost in the sea of small coupes out there on the road, but the S will be even more rare and will still be a head-turner for the rest of it's life. Roadsters will never be out of style and will always be fun to drive regardless of their power output.
Good luck with whichever route you choose

Not pleased with that car's facelift. The previous front end looked fine, but they just HAD to whack it with the ugly stick!
Motor Trend did 14.2 @ 98.4mph in the R-Spec version, a couple of ticks/mph *slower* than an S2000.
274 hp > 237hp, but 3400 lb. > 2800 lb...
Honestly, I'd sooner get a used 300hp G35 if I wanted that kind of car.
But I'd rather have an FR-S/BRZ. Slower car, but much less likely to make you miss the S2000 (imo).

Two totally different cars, not really of a comparison. I own both, a 2000 AP1 and a 2013 3.8 Gen Coupe R-Spec. I come from old Porsche circles so I was quite impressed on how my S2000 can take corners tighter than my 80's 911 or my 914's. My "S" is not fast obviously but all the driver inputs are sharp and extremely responsive. My Gen Coupe is more like a Porsche 928. It's a GT car, high speed touring, more comfort, more removed but still sporty and holds the road at high speed. I like to refer to GT cars as Autobaun cars: fast, high speed, and confidence inspiring handling. In the way the Coupe excels at long distance highway, the S2000 excels on the backroads and twisties and is boring and slightly tiring on long distance drives. Decide whether you want a highway cruiser or a nimble aggressive car and you will be closer to your decision. BTW, the driver inputs on the Gen Coupe are OK, but they are no where near the precision of the "S". I have been happy with both cars. The Gen will spoil you more but you will miss the "S", I look for it on the weekends.

I pulled on the older v6 model gen coupe. Also from many of the reviews I have read the trans and overall feel of the car is kinda mushy. They are totally different cars. I think you would miss the S unless you really want more of a sporty grand tourer but then I would probably go for a 370z or g37.
And if you are going to be that bad math guy then tell us you paid cash for your house, please.
