ANOTHER reason to avoid "Made in China" products
I decided to put this up as a separate post just to bring more awareness to the rapidly escalating concern for the quality of products imported from China. The following link is to a NYTimes article released today about the increased dangers for SUV and light trucks driving around on tires made from Hangzhou Zhongce Rubber: http://www.nytimes.com/2007/06/26/business...ml?ref=business
If any of you have bought tires for your van, truck or SUV from Foreign Tire Sales of Union in New Jersey - be AWARE and immediately contact them about replacing them with reliable tires NOT from China.
Ride safely all

Your title should read: "Another reason to avoid automotive products made in China". If we avoided everything made in China, we wouldn't have an economy anymore, and just about every retail business would cease to exist.
Anyhow, I suppose this is not surprising.

I'm not sure if you realize but there has been multiple cases of sub-par quality products imported from China beyond automotive parts. For example, lead in the paint used on Thomas & Friends wooden train sets, melamine found in pet food, lead found in baby bibs (of all things), fake ingredients in cough syrup, and the list goes on. Not necessarily avoiding, but taking caution of what you buy in general from products imported from China was my general take home message.
My intention was not to mislead anyone about what my post was about, but to merely draw attention and caution to this new and potentially deadly tire defect. Your statement of "we wouldn't have an economy anymore, and just about every retail business would cease to exist" I feel is an even bolder statement than my title
. The US has been relying more on imports these past few years, but I doubt the economy would cease to exist if we were to "avoid everything made in China," which wasn't my intention at all.
I think you all missed what I was saying. I wasn't saying only the car products suck. What I'm saying is it's nigh on impossible to buy anything anymore that's not made there, thus the retail store reference. I was modifying the poster's thread title to be specific to the subject of which he speaks.

it's actualy not too tough to avoid buying products made in China, unless you shop at Walmart.
The HP laptop I'm on is made in China, the chair I'm sitting on is made in China, the desk, the everything around me is made in China. I'm going to go home and throw out the TVs that're assembled in China (though with Japanese names), all the other electronics that're assembled in China, all the household products that are made in China. My house would be pretty much empty.Go home and count how many things of yours are made in China, including the cellphone you're using and the clothes on your body. Yeah, it's not too tough. Idiotic words!

P.S. So now only Walmart imports products from China? Extremely idiotic words!!!
