BMW has Audi solidly out-gunned with its reasonably priced 335i (which runs quicker than the S4, I believe), so this car shouldn't command too much of a premium over the A4 if it hopes to be a success, IMO.

I dunno. People here have been throwing around some pretty high numbers as speculation, like $50-60K, I thought. That would price it around the CLK. which would be too much. Can't snow tires on a RWD vehicle make it suitable for snow? I have no clue since I don't have no snow...

[QUOTE=sw05s2k,Mar 7 2007, 12:44 PM] For us in the snow, the 335 not being avail with AWD is big turn-off (for me anyway) and keeps it out of my driveway.

I would figure they need an RS5 version to compete with the upcoming 414 hp M3 & C63 when it comes out. Wouldn't be surprised to see the 414hp RS4 engine show up in this car.

Dealer showed me they have allocation for 335 AWD for April this year should I choose to buy one. It was their official allocation list w/ order number and spec info, so this is not some salesman just mouthing off.
They didn't have pricing yet as of 2 weeks ago. They are anticipating it to be $1,800 over RWD by using pre-gen benchmark.

At this point the S5 has the new M3 aced on looks. The M3 is still sure to win the performance crown, but the S5 will be what everyone notices pulling up at the valet stand.
