Unlike the people around here who see cars as their next "bling" (and drop em like their hot), I completely agree.

Even if Honda made a successor to the S2000... I think it would be extremely hard to make something as what i considered near perfect as the S2000 is in every way I personally define a sports car.... even if Honda did it themselves. Honda truly made a gem in the S2000. This is why I returned to my little $18K S2000 when I could be driving a 911 or any sub $100K made.

The S2000 is an S2000

It's not that iconic to me. The inline 4 is not a "classic" motor whatsoever.

hmmm... won Wards top honors for years... That sure is iconic.

As the old saying goes... its not how many cylinders you have... its how you use it.

Yeah...I like the S2K and all...but I don't consider it a classic by a long shot...if the S600 barely makes it, I doubt the S2K will IMO.

What makes a classic? A car that was highly desireable and popular at its time, a bit out of reach to a good number of its admirers, and then add on 30 years or so.
You got cars like the 69 camaro or mustang fastback, both undeniable classics (well technically muscle cars because classic car enthusiasts will argue about what's considered a classic), but in the 70s and early 80s they were regarded as crap and could barely be given away. Then the 90s and 2000s hit and suddenly prices for well kept/restore examples soared.
So the S2000 appealed to a whole generation of car enthusiasts, not exactly a niche vehicle like how the old s500s were, therefore I believe the car will live on eventually as a classic. I also think the Supra, FD, EVO IX, ITR, Z32 300zx, maybe 3si, E30 M3, mr2, and a good number of other cars will eventually become classics (btw, i don't even like most of the cars I mentioned).
