New trend? Over the weekend I walked past a gaudily-decorated Acura 4-door (RL? Who knows and who cares), and the aftermarket wheels were held on by lug nuts with a, hmm, perhaps 1.5" conical spike sticking out of each. What is this, and why? A new look-at-me trend? Rather like this:

 

Ricing out your lug nuts has been a trend for a few years now. This is just another iteration of that trend.

 

I see these on 18-wheelers all the time. It's just another "f@#k you" to the world from a bunch of douche bags.

 

Works better on Italian cars.
