Best used AWD bargain

The RL would be nice DD although boring as shit.
Maybe just maybe you could find a 08 Evolution X for 25k?
On the cheaper side you got a used WRX,Outback, Legacy GT/Spec B, etc and call it a day.

Jonboy,
I recently ditched my Outback for a Highlander because the stick in the outback did not quite tow the way I hoped it would.
I have to say I sure miss my Outback. The turbo five speed was fun, but even if you don't get the turbo, it was not bad on gas, it was a comfortable ride, and I did not fret during blizzard conditions. The thing goes through snow effortlessly, the MY 2007 and newer I think get Suburu's most advanced AWD system and crash test ratings were tops, so insurance was dirt cheap.
My Highlander is OK, although big and boring, and I miss my Outback.
The new design Outbacks (I think 2010+) get high marks and better MPG with the CVT than the models they replace as well as more space, but the pre 2010 I think look a little better and have a sportier ride (although they are not sports cars). If you find yourself in a 2005-2009 model, people swear by a replacement of the rear Outback swaybar for a regular Legacy sway bar as improving handling greatly. You can probably find a nice 2005 model at a decent price.
Good hunting,
John

Read you bust the STi's balls prior and now are thinking of getting one. I love car talk
I did say that a co-worker has an Impreza hatchback and it's slow, loud, and has a cheap interior, though.

Found a 2009 Audi A4 Avant with Quattro for $19,900 yesterday. That's very tempting. However, I'm more drawn to the A6 Avant (2006+) as it is available with heated front AND rear seats and has a lot more interior and cargo room (good for kids and pets).
A guy I know in Houston is selling a 2006 Evo IX MR for $25K. It's a great car but I have a really hard time getting past the interior on those things. I'd also hate to chew it up in the winter here.

The A6 is slightly bigger than the old A4, but not a ton bigger than the new (current) A4. The A6 Avant is gorgeous, IMO

Yeah - if I got an Audi, I'm almost positive I'd get an Avant. The extra cargo room is nice and I think they look great as well. My wife liked the 2009 A4 Avant and the price is right, so we'll see....

All-Road stopped production in 2004. I've read about quite a few issues, though.
