Black Box in S?
Saw a clip on network news the other night re: a guy who was convicted and sentenced for 30 yrs in the deaths of 2 people he killed while driving 100+ mph in a white camaro. He was convicted based on black box data that records speed, brakes, gas, etc 5 seconds prior to a crash.
The piece mentioned some cars have it already, w/ most people unaware of their existence. Thoughts:
- If you were involved in a serious accident not your fault, would you want the other car to have a black box?
- If the S has / or will get one, would you remove it, legal or not (states are passing laws re: their use)?
- Does the potential good (info on accident only - subject to abuse?) out weigh privacy issues?
- Who decides?

The S2000 ECU does not record anything other than trouble codes and peak RPM hit.
The scariest "black box" car I have heard about is the US Lotus Elise. That car's ECU records some very freightening stats...
