I'm surprised not more people here on an S2000 forum would pick the M3. M3 is (well, supposed to be--I haven't driven any of the 3!) the most "raw" of the group. While I like the exterior aesthetics of all W204 Benzes the best, I like the fact that M3 has a M/T that doesn't use a cable linkage. That alone would make me choose the M3.
Personally, if I had a choice, I'd get a 335i sedan, Euro delivery, put a few grand in mods, debadge, and have one helluva sleeper.

I don't know why people are concerned with weight when it comes to this category class. I must have seen a couple of posts referring to weight. They are all 3500+ lbs if not closer to or are 4000 lbs. These are entry-level class luxury muscle-cars who's audience is not concerned with time attacks or auto-x, but instead, insane exceleration, autobahn ride and handling, safety, poshness and badge-whoring, and the occasional stop-light encounter with a Porsche or Corvette.
Its sad to say also...but the M3 is NOT a sports car anymore. It doesn't fit the definition. It is a GT (Grand Tourer).

I picked C63, actually.
i absolutely do not think the GTR or any other sports coupe's should be included... no corvette, no Porsche's... this is a GT comparison... Include the IS-F though...
I'd pick the M3, and my 2nd choice would be the RS4... I think it will perform (handle) better and be more dynamic and engaging to drive with its manual tranny than the Merc... Its interior is on par with the Merc and its design is understated elegance, yet sporty... and it sounds great (was on the road with one last week)
The Merc, it just looks too boy racer with its 8 exhaust pipes ( ) jutting out (the M3 makes its pipes look a lot better) and just a bunch of slats and vents, just trying to make it look sporty... when taking into the perception of image for me, the C63 driver is the guy that wants the flashy car, but "most" dont know what to do with it... and just want to throw their cash at the most recognizable badge... the M3 and the RS4 drivers... they tell me theyre more than about just the image...
and the M3 pictured above is a bad representative... look at this below and re-evaluate your decisions...

For the best in fairness/apples-to-apples, the comparison should be C63 AMG, RS4, IS-F, and M3 sedan (if the rumors are true). Four door, 4-5 seat cars.
Yeah, the GTR fits perfectly into that
Oh no wait, it's the GTR, the end-all be-all of cars.....instant win.
