Default Boots...

Hey guys ...yeah, it's me again

I've been looking at boots to buy after getting sized up for gloves, jacket, leather pants, and helmet (Arai FTW ), but was wondering: I wear a 12-12.5 in my army boots, but in civillian shoes (i.e. running shoes, casual shoes) I wear a 14. Do I need to look at the sizing conversion charts as if I'm looking for a boot boot or do I need to convert from shoe size to their boot size (i.e. alpine stars' 48 = a 12.5, so is that a 12.5 in boot size terms or a 12.5 regular shoe size?)? I'd naturally assume that its boot size...but I don't want to assume anything;plus it would suck if the sizing conversions were for normal shoe sizes, b/c that would mean 75% of the boots out there would be too small.

I know this may sound confusing, but please try to ask me where you're confused, if you are.

Thanks.

p.s. still trying to sell my car so I can get my friggin k7 bike before 08 hits and they run out of inventory for the 07 FY.

get a used k7:
there are mods usually sportbike peeps like/need: sliders, ss front brake lines, rear stand spools (slider plastic type works even better), convert to 520 chain, adj rear sproket, tail light eliminator. get these already installed on a used bike and save $1K

boots:
you got to try these on in the store as the fitment dost really parallel anything. alpine stars' dont fit me well no matter how, Sidi boots are ok?
write down what you like and buy online or craigslist.

this is a good time to buy, lots of gear/ bikes out there.

In a normal city, I would have taken your advice and just gone to the local bike shop and tried on diff boots...however, I don't live in a normal city w/ bike shops, there is 1 bike shop within 40 miles of me, and it has shit for bike gear. I think they have 3 shoei helmets, some joe rocket jackets and no name boots.

Basically, I figured I'd ask here from the people that have bought boots (which should be most of you who ride) if they are sized based on dress/running/casual shoe size or boot size.

if you're looking for a shop with a bunch of stuff, go to Orange Park, there's a place called Cycle Gear that just opened up and they have TONS of stuff. that's where i bought my jacket and they have some decent prices. check it out: http://www.cyclegear.com/city_location.cfm?Store=104

The couple pair of boots I have run pretty close to normal shoe sizing. I have a pair of Sidis and a pair of Setups and both are close to my tennis shoe size. Order from a reputable place online if you don't have any stores near you (something like newenough.com) and if they don't fit just return and exchange.

Orange park? Wow, an hour and a half out just to try some boots on...sad

Vanos - The Sidi's you have: do they run bigger or smaller then your tennis shoe size?

Don't know if this helps, but I wear a size 7.5 nikes and I have size 41 Sidis. The Sidis are a little longer, width is good. Calf is tight, maybe I have big calves.

The Sidis do seems to run a little narrow and a little long.
