Default Bought a WRX

So I don't post here that frequently anymore but still come by and read from time to time.

A couple of months ago I started a thread where I stated that I was considering swapping my 06 Z51 Vette for an STI. After some thought and research, I decided not to but then found myself looking at an 08 Legacy GT that was on the local dealers lot at a significant discount. I test drove it as well as a WRX and the wheels where immediately in motion...

Two weeks later I traded my Vette for an 09 Premium pearl white WRX hatch and I'm already realy enjoying it even though I'm only half way through break in.

So far the car is great, it pulls hard even though I have to shit it right after the turbo kicks in for another 500 miles. The ergonomics are pretty good, the stereo is way better than the BS Bose system in the Vette. The handling is quite good too; I've been having more fun with that than the power since I can't redline it yet. There's a bit too much body roll but the car hugs curves nicely, I

Nice pick up on the 09's as they have more power than previous WRX MY's.

Seems like a bunch of us are getting into Subie's lately, or in my case back into a Subie.

I just picked up an 04 STi and am loving every second of it.

I think you may need to see a doctor.. j/k

Cool write up! I just test drove a Silver '09 WRX Wagon last Saturday. They are very nice cars and very quick!

My only gripes were, as you said, the amount of body roll and super squishy brakes under hard braking. (I reeeaally drove it )

Anyway, congrats and post pics!

Damn, should have proofed better, I'll leave it up though for continued comic relief...

You're right about the brakes, forgot to mention it. I think the brakes are good but the pedal feel is super mushy. It'll take some getting used to.

Also forgot to mention that I got it out the door for more than $1000 under invoice. A little added incentive for those who are tempted.

Definitely a cheaper car to run too, my insurance went down 60% from the vette which was just a tad more than the S2K.

On the 08-09 WRX, I really dislike the fact that they took away the Subaru 4/2 combo brakes and instead placed on the sliding calipers. The second issue is the removal of the viscous rear diff, so now the front and rear diffs are both open.

On another note, I miss my old 05 STI everyday. Out of the three Subaru's that I've had, that is still my favorite, in fact, that is the best car I've had from all the cars that I've owned; including the S2K.

i've got an '04 rex running VF34, and i LOVE it. drove a friend's 2.5L turbo wrx and said to myself one day i'll swap in the larger engine - the low end response is great, something i'm missing from my EJ20.

I have an 09 WRX Premium Hatchback, Silver though.

I think the 09 does have marked improvements over the 08. But as you said, the shifter and suspension still leave something to be desired.

On the other hand, I think the stereo is still pretty poor.

Sometimes I miss the luxury touches from my older cars, (I've had everything from 330i's to R32's, to MDX's) but ehhh not a huge deal breaker. I love the versatility of the hatch and the AWD for snowboarding trips.
