Seems like a bunch of us are getting into Subie's lately, or in my case back into a Subie.
I just picked up an 04 STi and am loving every second of it.

I even seriously considered making the swap about a month ago but the weather was just starting to get nice......
Its when the weather sucks that I truly miss it

WRX owner looking to pick up an S this summer to complement. I think both cars together are one of the best blends of fun and price. A hatch/wagon WRX would be better, if you'd prefer more space. Your car combination would be more versatile.
One thing that really makes me want an S is the sports car feel. I was just sitting in my WRX seated up high, crappy shifter, tons of body roll. None of that belongs in a proper sports car. Therefore, I wanted an S. But the S also comes with its compromises. Together, though, great!
I have 25k miles on my original stockers on the WRX and it's even more fun because the limits are lower. It's fun to putt around and slide the car with ease. No need for heroics to get that thrill. I have a blast at this one roundabout (when there's no traffic, of course) where I can turn in, get the tires squealing for a bit, then peg the throttle to gain traction. And it's all really controllable.
It's going to be a lot of fun learning the RWD dynamics coming out of proper AWD.

Dunno about way cheaper, my STi with BBS/Fogs was 31k + TTL with 0% interest

Pics will be coming soon, camera's at home and can't seem to get home before dark lately... Hopefully this weekend.
Bboy, I wouldn't call the WRX a true sports car and that was never my expectation. I went in thinking of it as a sport compact hot hatch and in that sense it doesn't disappoint. The suspension really isn't crappy, just too much roll, the shifter and the brakes on the other hand... The shifter is easy to resolve though it will never be at S2K level, the brakes on the other hand will be either more complicated, more expensive or both.
I know what you mean about heroics, the Vette was just retarded, as I got more comfortable with it I really started pushing its limits which are way too high for public roads. That's not why I dumped it but still probably a good thing as having fun in that car meant being way illegal. The one thing I already miss from the Vette is that slower traffic was usually quick to move over when you crept up on them, in the Subie, not so much.
