What's do you guys think about the outgoing Corvette? I mean next year (04) is the last gasp for the C5 that has been around since 1996. So that means we have about 12 more months of production. I guess they will not produce the 04 for a full 12 months so they don't have a lot left over and so they can change over to the new C6.

Anyway I imagine GM will still be making a ton of the C5's and since a lot of people either are waiting for the C6 or may have already sprung for the 50th year anniversary, the 04's should be priced to sell.

Now what kind of "deal" would it take for you to think about a 04. I'm thinking especially about a Z06. I guess you can get $4K off and 0% that's like another $4K off. I don't know what they would do for an outright cash deal, but who knows? Is $8K off MRSP out of the question?

The C6's will be selling at MSRP for a while so figure $50K at least for a C6 (420hp).

There's a chevy dealer near me with 33 C5's in stock 15 of them Z06's.

I'm only half-way interested, but if the price was insane I might be tempted.

So what do you think an insane Cash price is for a Z06??

I saw one in the paper this past weekend, a new '03 Z06 for $6k off sticker and 0% interest for 5 years. Not a bad deal at all. I will be getting a C6, but keeping my C5 as it's my first Corvette. Anyway, I'm going to wait for a few years after the C6 comes out to let GM iron out the little bugs that always affect a new model. An '06 or '07 C6 Z06 sounds good to me.

Cash deal get you 2k worth of instant rebate..
0% is only good for 3 years now... but I suspect they will bring
the 0% for 60 back later this year... New car is usually selling between 5
to 7k off MSRP....

04 Z06 has new Nurburing (sp?) tuned suspension (settings)... plus a
special $3-5k Commemorative Edition Z06 that come with carbon fiber
hood and special color scheme..
Autoweek article on Z16

To me, slightly used Z06 reprents the biggest bargain... 03 Z06 are around
low 40k... 02s are somewhere between 35k to 40k... 01s are as low as
30k...

The C5s can be had now for some killer deals, just like the C4 in 96 right before the C5 came out. Now is the best time to buy a Z06. I'd jump on it if I were you. Also, the C6, just like the introduction of any new-generation American car, will have quirks up the ass. It will take about 2 years for all the problems to be fixed, so your not missin out on much.

If you take a loan for $40K at 3.9% for 36 months you pay $2480 in interest. A 60 month loan is $4K interest.

If you pay CASH or cash + trade the $2400-$4000 should be on the table. This money is what GM is saving by not giving the 0% loan.

Right now I can get $4K off 04 Z06. If I could get $6K off that would be a great deal.

But I want an INSANE deal.

Anyway I'll take a test drive when the 04's come out, and see how badly they want my money.

Let us know what sort of deal you find. The dealer might not give up money that GM was going to pay direct (0% financing). But $6K off MSRP doesn't sound too outrageous for a cash deal. I'd be trying for $8K off.

I'll let you know. The only thing is I'll be doing it in the fall because if/when I do it I'll have to trade in my S2000. This will kill me and I know I'll be taking a beating for such a new trade in, but I'm hoping my depreciation will be offset somewhat by the discounts.

BTW I've seen a dealer on the internet with $7K off 03 Z06's and $8K off all 03 verts (including the anniversary edition). I'm halfway laughing my ass off because I know a guy that paid MSRP for an anniversary vert (more than $55K).

If you wait until the C6 06 comes out, you could probably demand 6K off and get it, GM wont raise the price all that much and ALOT of people will want the power and handling that comes with it stock, C5 Z06s will be old news. The benchmark for the C6 is the C5 Z06 in handling and acceleration with better ride quality, they wont miss it, so you'll be looking at a very big performance difference.

I think C6 will not be a leap forward to C5 like C5 is to C4s...
but GM claim that they will reduce weight while improve power...
