Cannonball!
I've just completed Brock Yates' new book, Cannonball! - the full story of the real Cannonball events in the seventies.
If you haven't heard about the original events, you're not a real car enthusiast. If all you know has been shaped by the god-awful Burt Reynolds film, you've never seen the much closer to reality film 'Gumball'.
In any case, this is a book worth owning. Look for it in Amazon.com.

I have been invited to Brock Yates book signing here in Colorado on Nov. 4, 2002. Apparently it's being held at location that has the largest private collection of McLaren cars. I want to ask Mr. Yates a good question, since you have read book do you have any suggestions? I was also thinking of taking my digital camera to take snap shots of the cars, is this tacky? I here that it's suppose to be a swanky event.
I met Brock Yates and he signed my copy of Cannonball, he seemed like a really great guy. He spoke to the group for aprox. 45 minutes, telling some great stories about racing in the cannonball. Those were the days.
I would drop everything right now and go race if there was ever another one. My car of choice the S2000.
