I didn't get a NFR s2000 because my wife said a red roadster is too cliche.

Now that I'm looking at a 911 I'm thinking yellow or red or orange (except I'm not getting a gt3rs).

Most people buy black or silver 911's it seems.

What does car color say about the owner.

DOes a loud color mean

showoff?

Loud color could also mean "confident"

 

I didn't think about any of the meanings when I bought my yellow S2000. I really wanted white, but I couldn't stand the all red interior they had in '02. The other colors just looked so boring compared to spa yellow. I'm not a flashy person and sometimes I wonder what people think to see a bright yellow roadster, but I don't worry too much about it. Get whatever color you like the most.

 

What would be cliche?

I think it's your money so you should get whatever you want. Others opinions factor 0 in what I buy or what color. I mean the last thing i am concerned with is what other people think about what i do with MY $ unless you are talking about driving it to work and what negative attention your car could bring you there.

 

I shy away from flashy colors because Im afraid that I'll tire of them after awhile. Orange is my favorite color, but I don't know if I'd ever buy an orange car.

I don't really think that it says anything about you though.

 

Loud colors mean brash and confident. Neutrals are conservative. Go to a Lexus and MB dealership, and try and find any color.

I chose GPW because it looks good on an S2000, but I would have bought Imola if I could have. I think some peope buy color because they like it, some avoid it, and some just don't care.

 

Some people look at color as a statment, but I don't. I care how it makes the car look above all else. Personally I think yellow has been played out a lot over the last 5 years, so it's one I think that could be dialed back. And silver is DEFINITLY played out right now.

Manufacturers are becoming more courageous with their paint colors, so there's more interesting stuff out there, which is good. I'm a fan of non-metallic colors myself, since they're a lot less common. VW's and BMW's blues on cars like the R32/20th Anny and M3 are awesome, and VW's Imola yellow is great too. White I think is making a big comeback.

As far as reds go I'm over the color, unless it's on a Ferrari. I don't think red really pops on any other car anymore. It's not a bad color, it's just the defacto "sporty" standard, and it's just not interesting anymore.

Chevy's metallic orange color was cool until every hot rodder in the world started using it on their project. Dodge's funky non-metallic green is iffy at best, but they seem to be able to sell cars with it.

As long as the color of a car makes it stand out and works with the proportions, and doesn't mess up the other details, I'm fine with it.

Way to much read into color.
I tend now to look at what color fits with the car. S2000 to me just dose not look right in yellow, white, or light blue. Looks best in Black and Red. Silver looks ok also, just not as good as black and red. Most all BMW's look good in Black or White. 911's look great in Yellow and Red.
