Thumbs up Which cars had the engine start button

Asking just out of curiosity. All these carmakers are late to the party and bragging about how they are the best thing since sliced bread lol.

This is a repost topic,

but,

the 1963 mg midget had a push button start. It was very low tech though, I don't believe it said start on it.

There was a car in the 40's with a start button, but I can't remember the name, sorry. Try a search and you can find the other threads.

early 90s Jaguar XJ220 Supercar had a push start button. But for the most part, the S2000 was the one that brought back the push start button.

Cadillac was first...

1912 Cadillac had the first electric starter activated by a "button"...well sort of a button...more like a pedal or for those old enough to remember when your brights were turned on by a button on the floor board rather than by a steering wheel lever, it was kinda like that, but looked like an extra pedal.

Anyway...the real question should be...what was the first car to introduce the key with starter ignition together. And that was a 1949 Chrysler.

That's the one I was thinking about. "Car Crazy" had it as a trivia question during an episode.

all the old GM cars had push button start back in the days.

so we're late.

Aston Martin has a real crystal starter button. We have a cheap plastic ones with fake chrome.
