Are cars overpriced in the UK?
Everytime I watch Top Gear and they mention prices of cars (and then convereted to U.S. currency) it seems like cars there are more expensive than in the U.S. Can somebody confirm or dissafirm this?

As with most foreign currencies, when you convert to US dollars the equivalent goods are expensive. This is due to the weakness of the USD, not the other countries currency or market practices. I distribute goods manufactured in the UK, four years ago I was buying from them at a rate of 1.35 currently it is 1.75, this is simply due to the exchange rate difference between the UK and the US not because of the cost of producing the goods.
If you think the cars are expensive, try looking at housing...
England has VAT, the US also has sales and use taxes.

However car prices have always been more in the UK than in the US, due to taxes etc. its not just VAT... there are so many more taxes that we get hit with and thats even before you look at cost of running the car including fuel!!
People here think gas is expensive here, I will NEVER complan about our gas prices after that - $3 per gallon is cheap.

If the European Union were a state in the USA it would belong to the poorest group of states. France, Italy, Great Britain and Germany have lower GDP per capita than all but four of the states in the United States. In fact, GDP per capita is lower in the vast majority of the EU-countries (EU 15) than in most of the individual American states. This puts Europeans at a level of prosperity on par with states such as Arkansas, Mississippi and West Virginia. Only the miniscule country of Luxembourg has higher per capita GDP than the average state in the USA. The results of the new study represent a grave critique of European economic policy.

So despite taking in less Yen per sale of USDM S2000 due to exchange rates, Honda has been nice to us and left the MSRP relatively unchanged.
