I loved my 2008 C63. It was stock except for a Wavetrac diff. When I look back, that old AMG was a more satisfying drive than my F80 M3 or even my 996 Turbo. The M156 engine is legendary. It sounds and feels so good. W204 C63 also has great steering - definitely better feedback than the F80 M3. The weak point of the C63 experience is its transmission. My car had the older 7G-Tronic transmission. It’s competent when left in auto, but responsiveness to manual shift commands is pretty bad. To save on frustration, I just never touched the paddles.

I only got to track mine once. It was at Buttonwillow, and I thought the C63 was pretty decent. The star was still the engine. Getting to open it up many times a lap was a great joy. It also made for easy oversteer everywhere. I found the C63 more engaging on track than my M3. M3 was quicker and easier to drive, though.

I haven't been able to do much with the car yet. I'm still waiting on the f*cking title from the previous owner's credit union. So I haven't even been able to register the vehicle yet or get a 30 day tag. Given that the tint is illegal (and I want to replace it anyway) I feel like driving around with 8 year old expired tags (from my S2000 lol) is just asking for trouble.
