Talking Cayman Replacement!

In a drastic departure for what I've traditionally owned for a fun vehicle (all previous being designed from the ground up lightweight 2 door sports cars with manual transmissions), last week I purchased a 2012 Mercedes Benz C63 AMG P31. Black, with just under 80,000 miles and equipped with the factory limited slip differential option. P31 with LSD is a rare factory combination, so it took a little while to find one (as well as one in my price range). The previous owner installed billet accessory pullies, Victory Racing SS long tube headers and secondary cat deletes. Then had a custom tune applied by Eurocharged. All that should be good for around 480 whp (I'll be attending a dyno day in near future out of curiosity). This one has the factory carbon fiber appearance package, which is a bit over the top IMO but whatever.

The car needs a little attention before I can take it out to VIR, such as brake rotors/pads and new tires. I'm trying to put the widest 200TW tires on this car that will fit, but am currently not sure what that will be. The previous owner had a super dark tint installed as well. I know it's not legal here in NC, and it's super annoying to me so that's also one of my first priorities.

Time will tell if this car is right for me, being 2 pedals and 4000 lb. But if it's not, that's okay because W204 AMG prices are on the rise so I can probably come out ahead whenever I sell. Or maybe I'll fall in love forever with this V8 (never owned a V8 before). The car is just bonkers. Driving around town in manual mode is a hoot even at legal speeds. Engine roars, and pops/cracks on decel and downshifting...just makes you want to laugh nonstop. Anyways...

I have always loved those cars, nearly bought two of them, but always backed away due to reliability concerns. Great car - amazing sound and very quick once it's hooked up. Love it!

Nice purchase! I drove one of these at the Mercedes World Experience in the UK and was smitten with that V8!

Must be a rocketship when you mash the pedal. Engine looks nice.

Nice pick up man! V8s are awesome man, no other way to put it, just power everywhere, and I'm sure you'll have a great time with it, just need to shift perspective a bit. It's no Cayman in regards to nimbleness, but a Cayman isn't nearly as comfortable, have the ability to have friends and family in the car, and pull/sound like a V8, and I'm sure it handles competently. Be sure to give us an impression update.

Two German cars? Much braver than me. Hopefully one has a warranty and/or they’re not broken down at the same time. Gambling without going to the casino.

Looks like a nice Merc.

I like it, looks nice too. Try not to blow this one up (j/k) lol Congrats and enjoy the new ride.

I think it would be a great daily car, not sure I would like it for very long as a track car for the reasons you noted.

Thanks, haha.

And I'm not sure about that. It'll be nice (on track) to be able to peg the throttle for more than just 2-3 seconds and not worry about going to jail. Also transmission in manual mode is pretty quick, direct and brutal (with it's rev matching sounds).
