What do you all think about this deal? I got him down to 850$. The bike does not run, needs wiring he says (was not specific), and needed the foot controls installed.

hmm. looks like everything was hard tailed correctly. wiring can be a pain in the ass. not sure what they did as far as tuning since it has different pipes or at least chopped ones from what i can tell. Bobber conversions do take a lot of time. without further pictures or details i'm not sure whether this would be a good deal or not.

$850 doesn't sound too bad.

I recently re-wired my entire project bike, and it wasn't too bad at all. Only thing about the older bikes is that it is hard to find diagrams/parts. So if it needs foot controls I would look into that and see how easy that will be to find.

It would also be great if it ran, the older bikes carburetors can be such a pain. Especially if this thing has had so much work done to it.

It's a tricky situation, but if it's as good as it should be then it would be a sweet piece.

Also looks like the seat needs to be re-upholstered?

I've done two bobber / chopper / rat bikes and I'm working on a cafe racer style now. The seat will be an easy fix you can Do yourself. Is the front brake missing? Looks awfully small for a cb. Do note that this bike only has a rear tail light and no blinkers. If this bothers you I'd stay away.

The no foot controls should be an easy fix. Scroll eBay and craigs and pick up a set or you could Fab your own with the proper tools

To add to the exhaust, I believe this engine has 4 carbs. When he put custom pipes on there he should have had them all retuned. He lost all back pressure if he made them straight pipes. You should ask if he has baffles in the bike, that would help a bit with back pressure either lolli pop style or whatever. Now since the bike isn't running you have no way of knowing if the bikes carbs are in sync. They even maybe be gummed up and youd have to clean all four. That could be quite the headache finding the correct jets and tuning it yourself. It takes a special ear to get it synced if you don't have the proper tools.

If you have anymore details you could provide it would help determine whether it's a good deal or not.
