Default CBR600F4i Owners......

Just interested if anyone here owns a CBR600F4i and what your thoughts are?

I'm looking at getting one hopefully within the next three months and would like some feedback on current owners or anyone that might have some helpful information as a comparison between R6.

Cheers.

It was just voted the most popular bike of BARF so it must be good.

PB02,

I own/race an F4i. I only rode it on the street about 1000 miles before I tore it down and built it for track use.

My oppinion of the bike is positive. It's comfortable, quick and well mannered. However, In my experience the "performace" difference between the R6 and the F4i (or the GSX-R600 or the ZX-6R) is not noticeable on the street. The motors have slightly different power bands, but nothing that will throw you into one camp or the other. The chassis are both capable of craziness that should never be attempted on public roads.

If you're neutral on the size and riding positions, my recommendation is to buy the one that tugs at your heart the most...then sign up for a track school. You'll learn more in a day on the track then you will in a year on the street.

Have fun and be safe.

They are both very pretty bikes. As far as I know F4i is better suited for street and R6 for racetrack. F4 has more neutral posture.

Thanks for the advice guys.

sokitset, I think track school is a must. Once I decide on a bike I'll be booking myself in.

I own/race an F4i also. Mine is almost stock, just Vortex rearsets and clipons (about $500).

Just to comment on what was previously mentioned about the F4i suited more for street use, that is simply not true. The F4i *IS* an all out race bike, no less than the R6. It has won 16 supersport championships.

It is an incredible bike and very very capable on the track. You would be extremely happy with it.

I owned an F4i for about 3 months and 2000 miles. For me it was just not the right bike. I tried and I tried to like it -- but I just could not.

While it did everything you asked it to with grace it was just a bit ... boring.

I now have a Duck 748S and an R6, both bikes are -- for me -- more fun. I prefer the riding position of the Yamaha and Ducati and appreciate the peaky nature of the R6 and the beautiful lines of the Duck.

My advice, ride them all, if possible borrow one from a friend for an extended period.

The R6 and the F4i are both very good in everything. If you really want performance and a Honda, look into the 600RR.

Just as a side line, I was looking to get a CBR600 as my first bike, decided against it after seeing the costs of insurance.

If you are new to the rider scene, cb600 ( hornet ) unfaired, excellent in my experience ( although limited ) Good riding position, sound around corners - you can really go for it, has quite good street look to it

Would love the Fireblade, have riden both CBR600 and Fireblade.

Fireblade gets it for the power, this was a 98/99, not riden the new one yet
