if U had a choice between a 1999 sv650 for 2500 with 10miles good condition. and a 1993 cbr600 with some cracked plastic and good condition for 1500 or so which would u get for a starter bike?? im thinking the cbr but its in tx where the sv is in ny and im in NJ. but i can still get the cbr for less then the sv shipped to my house. I also have a question about seating possition on the older cbr f2's are they the same as the newer 06' f4i cause to me the older f2 gas tank looks bigger and might give me a harder time reaching the handle bars. i had a small issue with the 06 f4i and also only the balls of my feet where on the ground. where as the sv650 06 had better possitioning for a beginer. and both feet were planted.

Start with the SV - also when you come to sell it on you'll get more for it than you would the CBR.

not a bad bike not the best starter but hey i got me a 2001 cbr 600, these are less forgiving also, if that bike is the one u are looking for and it has 54000 miles id give him 1k for it lol if its 5400 then the price isnt bad try to shoot lower.

Yamaha YZF600R. They were basically the same from 1996-present. Good starter bike, plenty fast, and not too expensive.
