I'm not a fan of convertible 911's, I think they're kinda poseur-mobiles.

Also, I think roadsters are one of the purest forms of motoring known to man.

If it was my money, I'd get the Boxster. But it's yours. So get whateverthehellyouwant. And enjoy it.

The fact that the mid-engined platforms are better is also debatable. There's a reason why F1 cars are rear engined.
F1 cars are mid engined. If rear engined was and is a better platform, then wouldn't more automakers use this layout?

F1 Cars are Rear mid-engine, rear-wheel-drive layout. Their bias is even more rear-oriented than a 911, and they known as RR, like a Porsche. Porsche have been incrementally moving their flat sixes towards the front end with every new 911 generation anyway.

I'd just find a nice cpo 997.2 Carrera S cab. Take the extra 60k you'd otherwise spend on the 991 and buy yourself hookers + blow.

I honestly think its either GT series like (GT3 or GT3RS) or nothing... normal 911 is like a faster GTI to me.

A DD I would pick like a VW R32 with HPA turbo kit or something baller like a Quattroporte

IIRC, the 997 was first sold in 2004, and the 997 GTS came out in 2011 as a lost hurrah. If the pattern holds true, that means the 991 GTS will come out in 2018, just as the next-gen 911 is about to be introduced. Given a choise between Boster S now, or 991 GTS in six years, I'd choose the Boxster S.

Like a few others mentioned, I'd go with a fairly new but used/CPO 997 Carrera S with a bunch of options for way less money. Still a great looking car with nearly the same performance but quite a bit cheaper. Why throw money away?

2013 Boxster S.

Option it exactly how you want it (I'd have to opt for a custom color personally...) and do the European delivery. Make it an experience.
