Default Chris Bangle is still the man

As per Motor Trend:

His Influence: Now that the rest of the automotive world has copied his ''flame surfacing'' design language, BMW is ready to move on to a much more handsome evolution. We'll see it roll out beginning later this year.

How So? Think of a fleet of cars that look like the CS Concept replacing a fleet of 7 Series. It'll knock the rest of the design world on its collective ass

This Ends Controversy? Hardly. Luddites will always claim he ruined BMW design.

BMW CS Concept

Bangle is responsible for overseeing every aspect of BMW Group design globally including BMW cars and Sport Activity Vehicles, BMW Motorcycles, BMW Motorsports, MINI cars, Rolls-Royce prototypes, and lifestyle accessories.
The BMW board has issued a vote of confidence in his ability to steer the entire organization, and not just BMW's flagship brand.

My personal take: I only like about half of his designs to be honest. I've come to learn that they dont make pretty cars like Merc and Audi. I mean they've been making cars for 79 years. I can count on a few fingers how many gorgeous cars they have made. Yet, something still really attracts me to them. One thing is for sure. I dont mistake BMW's for anything else on the road. This man has a lot of weight on his shoulders and I'll bet the farm he's well paid for it too. There were so many STOP BANGLE petitions...yet he's still here. I do like that he is man enough to admit that his designs arent very photogenic. Now that everyone is starting to copy his designs the evolution will continue. I'm told that the new 7series will be a BMW of a whole different styling caliber.. We shall see....All eyes on Bangle.

I enjoy his designs. I have a penchant for forward looking designs however, as you can tell by my love of Terblanche and his Ducatis.

Those that claimed Bangle's more recent designs are atrocious need to get with the program. The game moves on and cars should not look alike. He is just changing cars more radically than gradually, which I applaud. I am sick of every car out there looking the same.

Give me more forward looking designs and you can keep your bland, conservative styling.

Very well said man. From what I know the next gen of most Bimmers will have that same CS Concept DNA in their designs. Should be interesting to see how it plays out.

People are funny. I would take any Bangle designed BMW over the bland box crap before them. Back in the day when you couldnt tell the difference between a Honda Civic and 3 series (such as a 325) from 100 yards out. Style is in the eyes of the beholder and Bangle cars have style.

It looks like a cross between the Charger and the new Evo. I don't like this one. I am about half and half on his designs. I, however, do applaud his work. BMW also deserves credit for not having fired him yet. He turned the entire BMW design department upside down and came up with alot of fresh ideas. BMW has taken alot of flak for his work and other manufacturers would have succombed to the pressure and let him go. His designs do look better in person. The flame surfacing doesn't transfer well to paper or the screen, that third dimension really adds alot of character to cars.

ROFL...I'm afraid to ask what a "manty" is...

The BMW CS is definitely his best yet.
