Which is closer to the s2k: E36 or E46 M3?
The E30 is by far the most hardcore of the M3 choicies. As the m3 got updated, the engine became more powerful, but the weight increased, and the suspension got softer.
However, the E36 is the best combination of the power, handling, comfort, torque, durability.

If you want to consider another option - look at a E30 M3 (this from an E36 owner), as long as maintenance is not an issue

BTW, I'm supprised at how many people I see on this board with both an E36M3 and an S2000. We're not getting rid of the E36, were just adding the S2000. Speaks well for a car designed in what '92-'93?
Im Hopefully adding an E46 to the stable. I want something as fast, but a little more bearable day to day, and with an automatic so I can swap cars with the wife if need be.
