Thumbs up Codename: RELEVANZ

The new M5 is being developed under the name "Relevanz " which means in English "Relevance".
Over the current car there will be a slight increase in power but not as much as expected from forthcoming rivals or to match their hp outputs and of course press speculation.

M5 in the next generation is to understand is such a car relevant today? and this will be BMW's technological showpiece to offer a technological kinship to the F1 programme .

As a car it will be immense and it concludes speculation over the need for a Mbased 7series model when simply there is no need .
X6 was always considered for the M badge it is just pure logic that the X5 model receives one as well.

Like every M5 generation, our rivals will have no idea what hit them, plus the performance sedan brings something new to the segment , but they have always learned that when they first get behind the wheel of every generation of M5 .

The M5 has always brought something new to the segment that completely outcasts it's rivals . The F10 model will be no different.
The intention with the M5 as has always been is not to shout about it's purpose , that is why the M5 has always been a car that speaks for itself and we know the competition hears every word.
^^Pulled from the accurate ''mysterious informant" at Germancarzone.com

I love righteous the ego. I wish someone from Honda would talk to us like that.

The next gen 550i will allegedly get the twin turbo V8 from the X6 and 7 series. I wouldnt even know how to top that. It would be more than enough car. Is BMW bringing a butter knife to a gun party? I find it hard to believe they wont be matching the 560hp CTS-V and the also powerhungry AMG's and AUDI RS. The M5 might join the ranks of the M3 by being down on HP AND TQ than its competitors. Time will tell.

Does that mean the car will loose weight and come in a standard shift only?

It will probably be the same motor as the upcoming X5M and X6M models.

That would mean there would be no 550i. Unless the TTV8 is re-worked //M style.

So if the M5 is getting a TTV8 does that mean the next M3 will go to a TT V6?

im guessing the 550i gets the standard v8tt as found in the x6 and 7 series while the

m5's v8tt will get M treatment. most likely just louder exhaust + different tune.

that v8tt is crazy. i can't imagine a juicebox 3 plug in mod for < 800$ that will yield you 100rwhp/100rtq..

time will tell.

the interesting thing is that the CTS-V probably has 200 hp on tap that is easily attained w/ simple mods. So does that fact impact BMW's decisions at all? Ie, the 2011 CTS-V could just up the boost a tad and keep up... so is it worth getting into a battle over?
