Default Corvette gets bigger and heavier...

When it comes to questions about performance cars, the order of importance goes like this:

How much does it weigh?
What is the weight balance?
What is the chassis layout?
How much power does it make?
etc, etc, etc...

So there is no doubt the C7 is a sic car, with a rediculously high performance threshold. But it seems like the sports car essence is being lost and replaced with more chassis and powertrain management technology. The C6 was a standout car because its really the only performance car with a v8 that weighed less than 3200lbs. That distinction is being wittled away. I know the C7 is only slighlty longer than a C6, but the C6 was already too long, and the C5 was even worse.

I still think the C7 is a great car, its just a great GT car.

Uhh, are you really concerned with it gaining 100lbs?

Stop eating those cheeseburgers if you're that concerned. The car itself is far more refined and powerful than the C6. I, for one, welcome these changes.

yeah i love this new car. The c7 with a z51 package has been in my dreams lately makes me think about parting my car out to get one.. as sad as that would be.

Corvette had been holding the line on weight for DECADES. 1968 small-block Corvette: ~3300 lb. 2013 Corvette: ~3300 lb. 3400+ is a disappointment and a step in the wrong direction...

where did you get 3400 lbs? 3298 estimated... 90 lbs heavier.... most americans could lose half that at least around their mid section

Sure I'd love a 450hp c7 that weighed 3000 pounds, but even at 3400 lbs, what comes close to its power and light weight for the money?

Personally I'd prefer the minimalistic approach of the c6 interior in the c7, but everyone bashes corvettes on the interior so much that GM had to step up the cockpit.. Added weight is a side effect of comfort, but the all aluminum chassis should cancel out any changes..
