OMG !! All these comments!

I'll tell you what is funnier though.....This car will smoke MOST of the S2k's
on this site Lol...

To the OP as long as you are happy that is all that matters because YOU are the one making the payments! I think you got what you wanted and at a good price to boot.

Drive it like you stole it!
That would be in a world that doesn't negotiate turns right?

J/K seriously though, I think some of the people are being a bit harsh. The car isn't beautiful, but it's definitely original looking and is an eye-catcher. It has style to it, a funky one from some angles, but it looks really "expensive". It has tons of power being its the SRT version, and it's probably tons more comfortable and luxurious than the S.

Everyone's just teasing, they have legit reasons to be. You seem to be happy with your purchase, and there are legit reasons to be happy - it's a cool car.

Yeah I really don't understand the condescending attitude toward peoples purchasing decisions.

What's even worse are the S2000 nut huggers that feel like they need to defend their ownership. Anytime a car with more power capable of destroying a S2000 in a straight line comes along it's immedietely dismissed.

"Take it anywhere near a corner and the S2K will win" - seems to be the default response. This is hysterical when these same people drop that line when a GT cruising car like this SRT6 is in question. Yeah I'm sure you'll take that 45 degree right hander at a stoplight faster then his car, as if that was his biggest concern when choosing to buy what he bought.

Or.

"S2000's are not drag racing cars" - yes the car gets a free pass for it's underwhelming straight line performance. All of these nicely crafted excuses.

All I have to say to some of you is get over your car. People don't run in here bashing S2000's so why attack their car? Our cars are old, extremely inexpensive and currently in line to be king of rice due to affordability yet some owners carry massive ego's.

I appreciate all the opinions(good or bad). I understand the strengths of the S2k and I also understand the strengths of the srt6. At first I was having some major withdrawals just thinking about selling the s2k. But the good part was that my brother owns one as well and that we could trade whenever I pleased. In terms of numbers, I dont think even the s2000 could beat this car on a track. Sure the S feels much better around the corners, but breaking and lateral g-forces are very similar between the two cars. I would still however choose the s2000 for track driving just because the S2k feels more connected and snug than the srt. But the truth is, I can't really afford trips to the track, and neither can I afford the consistent temptation to speed with the s2000. I've had my fair share of tickets at only 21 years old and though the srt-6 is faster, I find it much less tempting to put my foot down while driving it.

The best post in this thread. Wish some other posters could learn a thing from you.

Basically, people sat here and bashed on your car and yet instead of lashing out or trying to convince everyone of the superiority of your choice, you simply stated your reasons for making your decision.

I'll be honest, I'm not a huge fan of the SRT-6, but I certainly don't think its a bad car and in reality, my opinions are completely irrelevant to a discussion regarding you have already purchased. Congrats on having such a nice car at 21, and I hope you enjoy it.

Furthermore, note to everyone - just cause someone wants a sports car doesn't mean they have to choose a S2000. Gasp! I know shocking, right?

+1

Seriously though, you got some guts to be posting that car on these boards. Your position is absolutely correct, people tend to judge cars by mags or by handling nuances that really can't be felt unless you start driving above 8/10s, which should be only at a track. People always knock straightline/quartermile folk saying it's all car and no skill, etc, but people fail to realize that going to the track requires more time and money (tires, brakes, alignments, track time). You skill level is proportionate to the amount of time and money you spend in the hobby, and some people just blasting down a 1320 strip is enough of a rush for the month... some people live their lives on quartermile at a time... (sorry, couldn't resist)
I've never taken my S to the track and am very weary to. I put a lot of time and money into it and the last thing I need is to spin out and hit a pile of tires. Fortunately I do live next to a great mountain road.
You took advantage of a market exception, you found a car that suits your tastes and not some magazine/track rat's taste and got it for killer value on the dollar. Some people just cannot understand that.
I was hoping to do somethign along those lines with the new solstice gxp coupe, not looking too good for me, might have to wait longer than expected or pay more than I was planning to.
Being an auto, not the car I'd choose, but cool pickup nonetheless.

I like my S2K, but some people just get a little carried away.

Nice car, and one I was considering briefly when I got my S2000. I rather like the controversial styling, and driving a cheap AMG is a good thing IMO. Auto only and GT handling made it not my first choice, but that just shows a different set of values.

And ditto on the tickets--it's not hard to get into trouble with the S2000 because it's somewhat mundane when putzing around and very exciting when pushed harder.

It's downright annoying/frustrating just driving around normally.
