Default Damn, the Hellcat is fast!

I knew the Hellcat was fast, but I didn't expect it to pull on a C7Z from a roll:

Lol... this C7Z story just keeps getting better and better. It apparently loses in a straight line to a Viper, C6 ZR1, and now a hellcat. Maybe it's faster than the C6Z?

read through the rest of the thread. The hellcat is the one honking the horn, and thus has the advantage of knowing when the third horn will honk - thus having the jump every time - that's pretty tough to over come from a drag racing sort of perspective.

That said, the video is only half posted, the C7z actually beats the hellcat in one of the pulls, which the hellcat poster for the video edits/cuts out.

Also, I'd like to see the two match up at Laguna Seca - i'm sure it's no contest. I'm not a domestic fan in the slightest, but will give respect where it's due. I'm 100% certain that the C7z will destroy a hellcat by a margin of 3+ seconds at Laguna Seca. It won't even be a contest.

The hellcat is a reiteration of classic american muscle at its finest. All power, straightline performance, and no turns. The Corvette (and even the z28 camaro) have tried to change and evolve beyond that formula. The Z06s consistently out perform the 911 Turbos on the track (and even the GT3) - they're a much more balanced sports car. As much of a Porsche fanboi as I am, GM knows how to build a car that can turn hot laps.

That said, I think this iteration of the z06 with the FI is severely lacking in the cooling department. GM essentially created their version of the GT-R. The C7 Z06 will turn hotlaps that will beat most super cars, but will likely be useless for an HPDE day in the summer doing 4-5 sessions of 20-25 minutes. In that scenario, bring in the 991 GT3 or the Camaro Z28 for some consistent lapping fun.

I'm also willing to bet the Hellcat have cooling issues if brought out for a lapping day, in addition to probably cooking the brakes with its massive 4200+ lbs.

Edit: Also forgot to add the part where earlier in the day, the C7 Z06 was consistently beating the hellcat at the drag strip. (hellcat is also of the "auto" variant - so transmission advantage to the hellcat too).

Edit: V8... lol, didn't realize it wasn't just another viper v10 transplant.

The Z06 owner also said he was spinning in second gear which, in addition to the honks, is why the Hellcat was getting a jump. That Z06 also beat that Hellcat earlier at the dragstrip.

Make of it what you will, but the Hellcat engineers claim it has enough brakes and cooling to endure a 20 min track session at 100F ambient temps.
