Default Dead: Boxster

On page 84 of the Car & Driver October 2004 edition, the Porsche area includes the words "Dead: Boxster - at least for the time being."

What's up with that?

And it doesn't say anything else?

That's a very strange thing to say when Porsche just released a somewhat re-done '05 Boxster line.

I think the problem is that the unveiling of the new Boxster was done AFTER the mags went to press for the Oct. issues. R&T also mentions that details "have yet to emerge" on the new Boxster.

It seems to be a timing issue.

It's got more torque!

My wife likes riding in it more than in the S2000.

I guess we're both getting old.

If I could afford it, I'd look into the next generation SLK, especially the AMG 8-cyl one.

The new model is definitely coming out. The base model is supposed to be around 240-ish, and the Boxster S will have 280 hp.

yup I heard exact same thing

Its almost as if there is gap in "production" but not in supply chain.

I saw the new slk 350 on the road this weekend. It looked nice from behind. I didn't get to see the rest of it though because of traffic.
