I always thought that there was this high end car, Ferrari or Lambo, which has a roll up window and a wire to open the door.
It's a Ferrari, either the F40 or F50. Can't remember for sure anymore, maybe both?

-> The 1st batch of the F40's are race-spec sliding windows, latter models came with roll downs. Same goes with the F50, as does with the Enzo just to save weight.

-> Oh! The base model Toyota Tacoma comes with a rollers too!

So if Ferrari does roll-up to save weight over electric, and Lotus does electric to save weight over roll-up, what's the answer? Which is lighter? Maybe it depends on the door configuration? Or...what?

I believe it's because that particular Lotus is already preconfigured to accept power windows. Because of this, the heavy 'infrastructure' is already there whether you buy power windows or not.

In general this is not the case.

The original style Dodge SRT4 had power windows in the front and roll-up windows in the rear.

the EVO 8 RS was a stripped down EVO with a/c and radio as options and the rear windows were roll down.
