Dodge Demon
Last month I was on the highway at 2AM with my friend in the car and I look in my mirror and an SRT6 coupe was riding my ass. He finally goes around me and I wait until he's about 1 car length ahead, I drop to third at 55mph and of course he hears me and starts going to. 140mph and I was about 4 car lengths ahead before I slowed down, but he just flies by of course to avoid getting stuck at the next light with me. I had 4.44 gears which helped, but I was pretty disappointed in the Crotchfire considering its price tag. Dodge needs to step up their quality instead of fooling people with big numbers and chrome grills.

It's an overall nice car. The interior has the Illusion of luxury. It's not like a true benz interior. The auto is very fustrating to work with. I cross shopped with this car but ruled it out because of reliability issues concerning some of the cars I ran into (asked for dealer maint logs). i ended up picking the S2000 because (and you hear it so many times) i could feel more of what the car was doing and going to do. Plus the sounds and tactile feel engaged me more.
If i didn't care about those things and was more concerned with comfort and straight line speed I'd have gotten the SRT. However, my personality differs from that greatly.
Right now you can find some SRT6s cheap. Real cheap.

The SRT-6 is much faster than a stock-motored S2000 regardless of gearing, and it only comes with an automatic, so driver skill isn't a variable. For that reason, either you weren't racing an SRT-6, or he wasn't trying.
I'm lighter by about 400lbs and we're not starting from a dig. Chrysler says it'll do around 13.5 in the quarter and in an AT tranny, that doesn't give him any advantage starting from 55+. Maybe he heard me downshift and lurch forward..so he floored it, but his engine didn't respond and downshift into his optimal powerband to keep up resulting in him being about 2-3 cars lengths away. Not out of the realm of possibility...just stating what happened and that I figured he would catch up quick and pass me.
If GM buys Chrysler, which they are talking about, then they will kill this one off, place a dodge badge on the Sky/Soltice. (
for rebadging.) Then after about four years on the market, they will get the car right, then inexplicably stop production.

and I doubt many people looking at a choice between a Boxster S or an SLK cross-shopped the SRT-6.
It's a little ugly like the Solstice but look how many of those have sold. It's sad that when Honda is getting out of the market, GM and Dodge are getting in and yet are still behind.

Dodge also makes affordable econocars and muscle cars.
They just aren't that great, Viper excepted.
Actually, I really like their V8 engines - the Hemi (I've driven the 300C) is a very nice motor. Very tractable and pretty quick, especially given the weight of the vehicles it powers. Haven't driven the 6.1L stroked version but it's supposed to be a beast.
Their interiors just leave me cold. Even the 300C (flagship sedan) has a pretty bad interior - I think Hyundai is doing a better interior on their Sonata and Azera and those are cheaper, less "pretentious" cars.

Besides, "behind" is a strong term; you can nitpick about the interiors or lack of storage space, but absent brand bigotry, there's no reason why you wouldn't cross-shop the Solstice GXP and the S2000 (Car and Driver had a comparison of the Solstice GXP and the Boxster, for crying out loud).

Fugly. And I agree that it looks like they copied styling cues from about 5 different cars. The windshield from the front looks like an S2000, the roll bar and top cover look like they were photoshopped in from a 350z.
