riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight
If this were true, the gas companies would buy up the acetone companies, add it to their fuel, and then charge 99.9% of what it would cost to buy gas+acetone...

gas companies dont want you to know that keeping your tire inflation at the proper level, removing unecessary weight, maintaining your car, and driving conservatively will bring your gas milelage back up to where it was when it left the factory?

I would not leave without a spare or jack. That's a bad idea. Cell phones don't work everywhere and Fix-A-Flat doesn't plug all holes.

As for taking out extra weight and tire inflation.... DUH!!!!! As for turning your car off when stopped for more than 30 seconds, my car (Insight) does it for me. As for doing a tune up, how much does all those parts cost vs. how much money you are saving for fuel savings.

Not much to tune up on a modern car. Change the oil & filter, air filter, and that's about it. Spark plugs go for 110k miles, ignition system doesn't need adjustment.

Emissions requirements have made poorly tuned cars a thing of the past, for the most part.

sure, less weight will give more hp and extra mpg, but that much? the acetone deal i am dubious of. by now you gotta know that proper tune and air pressure are a no brainer...i think the person who made the video had good intensions, but i am not buying into 100% increase. i will bet his car was in poor tune to begin with. so proper tune, air pressure, less stuff in trunk...i will bet 3 mpg tops!

This is pure bunk and has been discussed here before. I think Mythbusters even proved it does little if anything at all.

How to double your gas mileage:
1) Sell Expedition
2) Buy Civic/Corolla/Prius or other econo box.

Hell, even at $3.30 a gallon gas isn't that much of most peoples transportation budgets. People blow 600/month on car payments like it's nothing and suddenly when they have to spend another 50-100 a month at the pumps its the end of the world.

Always wonder about things like this,....Looked about the net a little. Might be worth a try on a worthless beater.

the bad is some people noticed swelling of the gaskets at the fuel rail.
the good it dose seem to get extra mpg.

My dad adds toluene to the gas in his 944 Turbo S for added protection against detonation/pinging. Says it makes a noticeable difference both in power and smoothness.
