Default Drove a 350Z... quick comparison

I drove my friends 2003 track 350z the other day, and I was not all that impressed. On the positive side, the sound is AMAZING, the torque feels nice, and the car (Daytona Blue) looks incredible. Also, when I push the s2k I almost feel like Im hurting it, and I do not get this feeling with the Z. In every other area though, I prefer my s2k. The s2k feels SO much more solid, tight and connected to the road (smaller steering wheel, shifter feels much better, pedals, interior), and is much more fun to drive. Needless to say Im glad I got an s2k.

I always love to read a 350Z test drive. I really have to get around to getting a drive myself. I was on the waiting list for a 350Z track but never got to drive one. I bought the S2000 instead. For a while I didn't really want to test drive the Z because I was afraid maybe I'd like it better and be kicking myself for making a $33K mistake. However I am glad I have the S2000 especially at this time of the year.

The one things I love about the S are it's shifter and it's light weight (relativly)

The 350Z I would like it's TQ and also fetures like Traction Control, nicer wheels (on the Track Z).

the 350z is more of a tourer. Probably would be considered a better everyday, daily driver

Well chances are if you own a s2000 or have spent considerable time in a s2000 you will not like the z as much. Not because it's a bad car, but because you are "USED" to the s2000 and have gotten comfortable with how focused it is. The "soft edges" of the Z would not be as aparent if you came from just about any other car, it's just a matter of perception.

The Z is a great car in it's own right and can't really be compared to the S2000 as they are two totally different cars. Going from a Z to a S will show the handling differences, the lack of torque, and the cramped interior, all things that you have gotten used to (and put up with) in the s2000.

So with an open mind, consider the Z a different car than the s2000 and appreciate for what it is and what qualities that it offers that the S does not.

I drove a 350Z and liked it a lot. I prefer the G35 offering in the coupe however.

S2000 vs Z is like night vs day. The S2000 is a true sports car while the Z is more of a daily driver. What you are referring to is simply torque.

Let's face it, our ratS don't have ANY torque...but that just does not mean they are not fun...it just meanst that you will have more fun revvin' the crap out of it!! :-)

The 350Z track is a solid car. I also concidered getting a Z, in the track edition of course, but I ended up with the S because
1. The car is made by hand, which is nice
2. The car is made in the country that designed it, unlike the Z which I believe is assembled here. I might be wrong.
3. The S's handling capabilities, which are outstanding for a convertable car.
4. The interior of the S is simple but not cheap looking.
5. The huge variety of aftermarket products.

I decided not to test drive the Z so I would never regret my purchase.

"The s2k feels SO much more solid"
This is shocking....an open top feeling more solid than a 3200lb hardtop??? Gotta love the S The Z should really be only 3000lbs, then i'd be more interested.....

"and is much more fun to drive"
This is the most important to me.

But one of the other big reasons I chose S over Z is because there are just too many Z's out there....everyone and their moms have it (literally).
