Don't you mean salesman and not tech? I find it difficult to believe that any mechanic would endorse this...it's great for the salesman that can tell his buyer that maintenance included. I hope you're not a tech in Jacksonville where I live otherwise my car will be going elsewhere.

E46 M3 requires oil change once every 15,000 miles.
True, but I would recommend doing what everyone on M3forum does & change the oil every 7500 miles instead.

Being a BMW tech I would recommend not wasting ur time and money and do it as recommended which is 15k.

15k is far to long to wait to change the oil. 7500 at the most.

No, I did mean tech. Not mechanic. Also not salesman. Sales would get paid either way warranty or not. Sales would want u to bring ur car in every 7500 or so. BMW NA would not do the oil change under warranty unless requested by the customer. Which if too many oil changes it would turn into customer pay. BMW backs the 15k oil service intervals. A lot of time, money and engineering go into how all this works, which a lot of people dont understand. Hence the needless 7500 oil services people do. Also I guarantee Jacksonville will also back the 15k oil change. Its a BMW standard. As per key read at 13k it is recommended and 15k it is due.

Nope. 13k recommended 15k due. As per vehicle key read and BMW NA

I'm sure all BMW dealerships endorse the 15K intervals as 'free maintenance' is something they like to tout as a great selling feature and they don't really care if your car lasts beyond the warranty period. Especially when we're talking about an engine that revs like the S54...I doubt you'll find many people that actually care about their car that will wait 15K miles. Also, if you perform maintenance/repairs on the car then you're a mechanic...call yourself a brain surgeon if you like but most people that bring their cars to you probably will think of you as their mechanic. My last E46 M3 had over 100K miles on the odometer when I sold it and it ran Mobil 1 every 5K miles since the first oil change...I know BMW has a deal with Castrol but I like Mobil 1. BMW can recommend whatever interval and whatever oil they like but my guess is that most people that care about the longevity of their car will ignore one or both of those.

Ok, enjoy your car exploding when the warranty runs out. 15k miles between oil changes in a performance car is a joke. May have played a role in our E46 M3 engine dying at only 70k miles.

I showed these posts to the guys in the shop and they all laughed. I understand people are going to do what they want, when they want to their vehicles. Changing oil is never a bad thing but is it always necessary...no. BMW uses about 7 qts of FULL SYNTHETIC oil in their I6 motors. Thats a lot of oil to break down in the allotted interval time. I understand ur buying a high end vehicle and people are paranoid about their investment but to be paranoid about regular maint is nothing to be paranoid about. We can go back and forth on what u think and what I know but in the end Im giving facts based on BMW's reasearch and engineering but what do they know, right?

Please... a 135i is a very fun car, especially with a Juicebox 4.

And the E46 M3 sounds like dog crap. E36 M3 and E92 M3 sound so much better. E46 M3 sounds like a big raspy Honda. Just a terrible exhaust note in general. 135i with a quality exhaust sounds great.
