Default Either the Best decision or Worst E60 M5

Just bought this little gem as the Wife's weekend ride.

The Good:
- only 76000 miles
- Tons of receipts and good history, got a folder full of documentation.
- Transferable Powertrain warranty until 2021 or 110,000 miles
- New SMG pump, new vanos, new clutch, pretty much everything that goes wrong on these has been fixed.
- Oil analysis from blackstone came back good/normal

The Bad:
Its the Automatic (really a hybrid/first attempt. has a clutch)
The horrible reliability of these fellows.

I honestly think these scare most people away. Even though there are tons of horror stories on these, we are taking the gamble. This one is the cleanest one I've see, and is virtually perfect. Has a few rock chips is its only flaw.

I'm a fan. But i agree, the reliability of BMWs has always kept me at bay. Even though i LOVE BMW

My buddy had the manual version for a couple of seasons. Best sounding BMW! Got like 8 mpg around town. He got scared of potential M specific parts failing and threw in the towel. Nothing had actually broke on the car though. I think the poor gas mileage wasn't helping him and he felt it was more of highway monster than back road carver.

Good luck with it! Looks sharp.

One of the coolest (V10 screamer!) and potentially most expensive to repair and maintain BMW's they've ever made! Enjoy and may luck be on your side!

Props for taking the plunge on one of the most badass sedans ever made! That engine is worth the cost and effort. I mean, it's basically a supercar engine in a nice sedan. Congrats.

500hp, 383lb-ft. Redline at 8,250. Sounds from the gods.

Funny enough, it's prob the fastest car we own, and that's saying a lot.
