I like it a lot, we have had one for almost 2 years now and it has been great. It is perfect for takinf stuff from place to place and drives pretty good. It actually handles better than you would think Anyway, we added an XM Unit to it and the keyless entry, the siderunners would be cool, but i have some stuff I would like to do to the S at the moment. If you are looking for a good all-around vehicle then the elelment is perfect, lost of room, it drives nice and gets pretty good gas millage.

Also, i think it looks fine!

Edit: I really want a TSX though, but its hard when the Acura sales people always seem like pricks!

I agree on the looks, i think the Element is akin to the Aztec in the looks department, however I agree with you regarding its practicality. If there were a vehicle with an interior with the dimensions and configuration options of the element, that didn't look like it belonged in Ripley's, I would enjoy it as a second vehicle. If you had a teenager about to turn 16 it would be perfect, and if you don't care about the looks...well then it would be a good choice, practical, affordable, versatile, and reliable.

I don't think the element and aztec should even be remotely compared in terms of looks. the aztec looks like an akward ball of flamboyant melted plastic where as the element looks utilitarian. That's not to say that I love the looks of the element. I think it looks ok.

I wouldn't mind having one for that rare occasion that I need haul home improvement stuff and/or light furniture around. It'd also be nice if I camped a lot because I'm lazy and I hate dinking around with tents. Somehow I'm slowly talking myself into getting one. I'd better shut up.

i would get it because of it's versatility. the looks aren't a knock out but the right color helps. saw an off lime geen with orange combo
Is lime green and orange an example of the "[non-]knockout looks" or of a "right color [that] helps?"

I like it. The shape reminds me of a UPS truck, and from an early age I have always wanted to try driving a UPS truck. If I bought one I think I would paint it brown and take the front doors off.

I think it's boxy outline is incredibly ugly. And it's even more obnoxiously tall than many other SUVs. But that's just me.

I agree with Steve C. People who don't need any of the features he mentions don't need an SUV at all.

When I think element, I think grocery getting, moving a big board, bed, small couch while not worrying about how the babies throw up will be hard to clean up in the back. I would buy one for a daily driver. If I wanted an SUV I would get the 4-Runner. For a truck I would go American.

It's not so much the real SUV niche that the element is going for.
The small SUVs aren't really designed to tow, haul, or go off-road.

Element, CRV, RAV-4....

They are more an alternative to a station wagon and fill that niche.
If I had a baby or two... the strollers and diaper bags, and a dog... that would be perfect.

Easy to clean, easy to park, decent gas mileage, throw the stroller in the back, put a blanket down for the dog, strap the child seat in the back, wife and I in the front... perfect!

The compact SUV is more a station wagon niche.
The mid-size SUV has large sports sedan niche (X5, FX35/45, MDX) and truck niche (Pathfinder/4runner).

Of course there are other niches as well (person hauler and luxury person hauler).

But c'mon, to say "people don't need an SUV at all...."

Once again, don't you think the compact SUV is the station wagon of yesteryear?

I bought mine for several reasons

1. Price
2. Very Roomy (business and family)
3. Consumer Reports Review for safety and price
4. Its a Honda
5. Tax Writeoff
6. Very good on trips and vacations
7. Great on Gas (12 Gallons @ 300 miles city AWD EX)
8. Something I dont have to worry about getting stolen
9. My Friends hate it because of its looks
