Supposedly sales start this fall. Lotus Cars USA and Transport Canada have nearly reached an agreement to bring the cars in. At least that's what I've heard . . .

I heard that at the Ottawa Autoshow where they had an elise on display. Apparently they are coming late 2005.

Why does Canada want the Elise? I thought you're still riding on horses and cows these days.

J/K!

If it ever comes, I will seriously consider it. I drive my S often in the summer, not sure if I could give up what little comfort I already have, which is not much anymore now that I think about it

I thought they didn't pass the bumper test in Canada, so we wouldn't be able to purchase them until the next generation comes out because Lotus would not spend money to modify the bumper only to sell maybe 500 of them in Canada a year.

I know this is what happened to the EVO. So we won't see one in Canada until the EVO IX comes out.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

Lotus is working on getting waivers for the noncompliant bumpers and headlights issues from the Canadian gov't. The dealers all seem to be saying that the cars will arrive in Canada this fall but there's been no official word from Lotus at all. Given the crazy stories that the US dealers made up in the absence of information before the launch, I'll just recommend that no one hold their breath.

It's gotta suck owning a sports car in Canada, sinceyou guys only get two weeks of summer.
