My wife put 269k on her 86 Civic before we got rid of it in 96 and I bought a new 92 Accord and ran it to 288k until trading it in 02 for a another Accord. Nothing major on either, just brakes, clutch (both were 5-speeds), alternator, etc. But living in NE Ohio, they just get ratty and crusty after 10 years of winters. Boredom wasn't a big problem, they just kind of fit like an old shoe. Problem was they smelled like one too.

At 40 mph average and eight hours a day it would be over eight years every day all day behind the wheel. I have better things to do with my life... I would have found a different job a long time ago.

I drove 671,000 miles in my 89 Jetta. It died in a collision with a dually F350. Six clutches, two radiators, one headgasket, and 1000 miles before the collision I had just rebuilt the motor for the first time.

So far I have 292,000 miles on my 90 Corrado, trying to make up for lost time. Would like to hit a combined 1,000,000 miles in the next year, but I'll throw a party for the old girl when she hits 300,000.
Here's how I celebrated 200,000 miles in her:
