Default Evo VIII

i'm trying to price out insurance for an '04 evolution... i can get a really good deal on one, but the insurance for it is going to be the deal breaker/maker.

on one hand, i've heard that insurance on evos is through the roof.... but the friend who i'd be buying the car from thinks my insurance should actually be cheaper on the evo than on my s2000.

i tried to get a hold of my insurance company today to price out changes but i was on hold for 20 mins. so i got on a couple different insurance websites and just started comparing quotes for an s2000 and an evo...

the only thing is that when i priced out the evo, the only options were for a mitsubishi lancer. and that was wayyyy cheaper than my s2000. do insurance companies know the difference between a regular econobox lancer and a lancer evolution???

anybody have any firsthand experience with comparing insurance rates between an s2000 and an evo?

I'm sure they do.

When I called State Farm to insure my RX-8, they asked me is it the special edition or regular. The price difference between the two was 250.00.

Reason being is the parts replacement on the special edition costs more.

I think you should get your own place first.

Yeah, the evo will be expensive. It was more expensive per month then a C6 Z06 or viper when I priced them through state farm last year.

psh! who needs a place to live when you can just drive around in an evo VIII all day?!

even if i drove a tercel, my living situation would still be up in the air... so i might as well have a car i like.

For me, the insurance on my Evolution is about 25% more than my S2000. Same coverage levels and deductables on both.

Insurance companies know the difference between a Lancer and an Evolution, and your premiums will definitely reflect it.
