I would guess both the X and Sti are faster then 1 series though on an actual track!
In stock form that would be a very safe bet.

Very likely, however (IMO) all these lap times are taken too seriously by some. I mean in "real world" the difference would be minor. What I mean is real world, people don't use the last ten percent of any car.

So (IMO) all these track testing while something to look at or talk about is not very important to me. I mean get in either three of these cars and you would most likely get to the mall in about the same time or if it was a few seconds off doesn't make any difference.

The sti needs to bump up the size of their swaybar and some bushings to turn like evo. It is really all they need, I am not sure why the subaru haven't do so yet. Also, I am sure the eletronic controlls on the EVO helps alot.
True. It definitely does make a big difference, especially when combined with a good alignment. But it needs a quicker steering rack.

very disapointing that the STI is not rated well in fun-to-drive.

I think that is what most people are looking for fun and shap handling etc..

I was thinking about going with a STI as a DD, don't mind the price if the car is worth it but as these tests numbers doesn't seem to be worth it.
Where did you get this from? I can't think of many cars more fun to drive than these turbocharged AWD cars. Grip and power are immense. They're amazingly easy to drive and a whole lot of fun.

How do these test numbers not seem worth the price of the car? What, exactly, are you looking for? There wasn't anything negative said about either of these. They're still at the top of performance per buck value charts. Perhaps not as much as they once were but I can't imagine too many other cars being better DDs. Especially that STI with the huge hatch and fold down rear seats.

The Evo is a sharper handler. There's no surprise there so I can't see how that's much of a disappointment. More of an expected outcome.

I wish. Lexus must send you soft cream puffs in the mail.

If they were paying me then its only fair that Audi pay CKit. Mitsu must pay s2kpdx. Chevy must pay QUIKAG, mitsu and chevy must pay VersionJDM, Nissan pays Triple-H, Subie pays BBoyAJ, etc. The only reason you point me out is your serious hatred for BMW. Thats fine with me. I dont loose any sleep at night.

Do yourself a favor for the new year. Stop worrying about other people and their opinions.

Nah. He's much too enthusiastic, plus doesn't hide that he has some early info from time to time. If he were being paid, he'd be more subtle.

Unless he's really clever, almost a double agent.....

There must be something in the water, this is another comparison where I would pick the slower car. For me, the STi is better looking and more practical. Like others have said with a proper sway bar and some urethane bushings the STi could be made to handle better and give more feel. The quicker rack would be nice but that goes a little beyond bolt on. Surprising though, is that they didn't mention the economy car roots of either the Evo or STi. That used to be the norm for these two perennial heavy hitters.

It is getting harder to see the value for money when that pesky 1 series can be had for less money. Maybe someone will compare the three at the same time and place.

Is this the US version or JDM version of the EVO X? The USDM version will be slower than JDM times.
