Very nice. I don't know why people have a hatred for 996s? I would guess because they've never driven one. The 996TT is an amazing car, especially considering the price you can get them for.
Yeah I can't figure that one out either. There seems to be some Porsche hate yet they love the crap out of the Corvette.
To me it should be the other way around ! The 911 is amazing with superb steering, autobahn quality brakes, wonderous sounds from that flat 6 ,awe inspiring handling while the Vette is a great straight line performer and the motor sounds pretty good it has a numb feel to it especially after a 911 drive.

I can't believe - in 2009 - anyone would suggest the Vette is only a "straight line performer". Come on, hate the Vette for whatever abstract reason, condemn GM, bitch about the interior materials, but modern Corvettes have WAY more performance dimensions that just "straight line".

In fact, the 996/TT complaints I read while researching a potential purchase, sound more like your Vette complaints (many people on, most of the major Porsche boards say the steering is a little numb, the weight is obvious, etc., etc.). Certainly the 996/TT wouldn't be confused with a GT3 and it shouldn't - it handles/"feels" like the Grand Touring car that it is!

I've owned a 02 zo6, and now a 996TT with hybrids and more boost.
They are both so good in the dry, but the vette was wicked spooky in the rain/damp roads.

In the dry, I'd perfer the vette for the tight twisties, although the TT is probably faster, but you'll sweat more. More open, banked twisties, the P car is more fun.

For top end or just plain thrust, there is no comparison. The TT just wails. Intense. Shuttle launch feeling. The vette didn't do that. It was exciting, but not shocking.

I can't speak for the next gen C6 and 997TT, but given the OP is talking about his 996TT, it is an approriate comparison. The C5 Z06 is a great. great car. The 996TT is a supercar.
Again, congrats. You chose wisely.

Congrats. Time for mods and wheels!

I took mine out for a drive today. Agreed with other 996TT comments...it does put a smile on your face.
