I'm sure he's out driving (er, hanging on to) that beast right now !!!!

Here's a review of one just like it that I've been modding to satisfy until he gets his review up.

[QUOTE=[DT],Oct 7 2009, 06:00 PM]I can't believe - in 2009 - anyone would suggest the Vette is only a "straight line performer".

^good Lord man, your argument is baseless and just seems to wander all over the place.

You're arguing that people don't like the feel from the Vette's steering? People say the same thing about the S2000. The Vette's handling blows an S2000 into the weeeds. A base C6 base Corvette can hang with a 996TT whereas a new Z06 will make it disappear in the rear view mirror.

I'm more a Porsche guy than Corvette guy, but put down the crack pipe and give credit where credit's due.

Great purchase man, congrats on the car! I can't wait till the day I can finally call a Porsche my own.

Ok let me continue to explain! I was at a local Maserati/Ferrari/Aston Martin dealer looking at the used NSX they had and they were not that busy and the salesman [snip]said "Vettes have nice straight line thrust but as far as Fun to Drive they are crap". His words not mine but I agree.
WOW. So your opinion of the Vette originated out what you were told by a used car salesman trying to sell you a car more expensive and with less performance than a Corvette? Buddy, I have a bridge I'd like to sell ya

Well, in SHX's defense (I used to stick up for the special/fat kids at school...) most of his dislikes of the Corvette are subjective which he's more than entitled to.

The semi-confusing part was the "straight line only" vs. fun, which seemed to suggest a car can't handle of it doesn't meet with the subjective "fun factor" attribute (which is of course, silly).

I think if I'm reading it right, he admits the Vette has terrific performance, *including* handling (subjectiveness aside) and he did like the sound/kick-in-the-pants of the V8.

Apologies to the OP for the slight thread detour
