636 is a great bike! just not for a first one.

Courses aren't what you need, a couple years of experience would do it though.

Just to put a motorcycle of this caliber into perspective of a s2000 driver (I did this for myself recently as I am just starting to ride):

'05 Ninja 636 - 362lbs, 130 bhp

To get the equivalent power/weight in an s2000:
2800lbs / 362 = ~7.7348 times more weight
130bhp * 7.7348 = ~1005.5bhp needed

Now ask yourself, if you were just learning to drive, would it be smart to buy a 1000+ hp s2000?

That's what I've got now and I love it. Fast enough to be fun, but slow enough to keep me living and help me learn. Also they can be had for great prices.

Even then, the 1000+hp S2000 is sitting on 4 wheels, instead of 2.

SV650, don't end up like me with a fractured hand and a nice supersport bike sitting in the garage.

The flawless ninja will be lay down and mess up in matter of time, get a older bike with more forgiving motor. You'll learn and out grown > you drop your expensive fast bike, break a bone or two and never ride again

older katana
250/500 ninja
sv/GS

bike with less fairing made much better first bike, you are most likely to drop your first bike so less plastic=less repair cost.

good luck
