Default Five minute auto review

This was a great idea for GM to get the word out, and actually let people drive cars back-to-back. Novel, ain't it?

I had an hour-and-a-half to use before work. So, I mostly did some "screening" for a friend of mine looking for a "cool" car (yes, this is nebulous, but that's where he is in the car-buying phase). Alrighty then. . . now, on with the comments:

Cobalt SS - Got the automatic. Decent power on a compact, but you had to set up the turns 3 seconds in advance, even at 25mph. Yuck.

Solstice - THIS CAR SUCKS LESS than any GM I've driven in recent years. The ride felt solid. This is a good sign of things to come. However, what's with the rattle in the back? Whoops.

GTO - Sleeper. Sleeper. Sleeper. Nothing exciting on the interor, but the knobs n' stuff felt better better than GM standard. In fact, they felt solid. Great engine noise, comfy, and pretty responsive for a big car. Kudos to Holden

C6 - This car is great. It should be on every performance test-drive list. My only criticism was that the show's course did nothing to push the car at all. However, the few seconds I was in it were great.

CTS-V - For the Vette and the CTS-V, you had to have escorts. The guy embarassed himself with scads of mis-information. No, this was not a "Four-door Vette." However, it was zippy. However, I have to give it the  as the steering, suspension, and responsiveness didn't bolster me to open up the engine at all. While not a Caddy-boat, it's also not a driver's sedan.

Acura TL - I had heard so many good things about this car. . . and. . . and. . . the fwd oversteer was annoying. I suspect (and hope) that that characteristic disappears at speed.

No time for trucks; but that looked fun if I had the time.
